About B.D. Burke

From an early age, creativity was at the heart of my journey. At 14, a teacher recognized my artistic talent and encouraged my parents to nurture it, leading me to private and group fine art classes. In high school, my dedication to art earned me acceptance into the Fine Arts Academy in Philadelphia.

However, life had other plans. Family responsibilities took priority, and for 45 years, my art was put on hold. During that time, I raised three incredible daughters, built a window treatment business, worked in interior design, flipped houses, and developed land—always finding ways to express my natural creativity.

After moving to Chattanooga, TN, with my husband, Richard, I launched an upscale interior boutique shop, but it wasn’t until we discovered Amelia Island in 2013 that my artistic spirit truly reawakened. The island’s breathtaking beauty—the golden marsh sunsets, the vibrant ocean sunrises, and the ever-changing landscape—spoke to me in a way I couldn’t ignore.

Now, my life has come full circle. My brushes, paints, and even canvases from decades ago have found their way back into my hands, and it feels as if I am exactly where I’m meant to be. I primarily work with oils, drawing inspiration from the timeless techniques of the old masters while capturing the natural wonders of this spectacular island.

Every painting is a reflection of the peace, beauty, and connection I feel with nature—an invitation to see the world through my eyes, one brushstroke at a time.
